The Journey Begins

My wife and I have talked for a long time about selling our home in California and doing a life of full-time-rving and/or tiny home living.  We've held off selling our home for several years because of the slump in the housing market here and we didn't want to short-sell our home.  But this summer, housing prices peaked in our neighborhood so we took the plunge and put our home on the market on July 16th and closed escrow on August 22nd.

When we sold our home, we downsized severely.  We took a lot of stuff to the junk yard, had a garage sale and we still had 3 tons of "stuff" when we moved out.

Our old home was small at 1284 sq ft, but we now live in a 320 sq ft tiny home located in a friend's back yard.  I built a shed (120 sq ft) to store our 3 tons of "stuff" so that we'd have more room in the tiny home.  Here's a picture of the new place.  Tiny home on the left and shed on the right.

Here is a shot of the living/dining/kitchen room.  The bathroom is to the left of the refrigerator.

And here is a wide-angle shot of the bedroom and closets.

So this is the beginning of the journey.  Selling our home, downsizing, and living in a tiny home.  This is not our final domicile.  We're planning on buying a travel trailer and when I retire from my job in a year (or so) and taking a year or two to travel the country.  If we like it, we may travel longer.  If not, we'll buy some property somewhere (like maybe Texas or Oklahoma) and turn our trailer into a tiny home.
